NORTHWOOD WRESTLING

FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGNS

Did you know that Northwood athletes, families and friends donate almost 50% of the cost of our athletic teams?  Without the generous donations of family, friends, and community members, several of our sports teams wouldn’t exist.  If you haven't joined the NHS Boosters, please donate today to help us reach our goal of $484,000 of fund raising for the 2016-2017 school year. You can learn more about NHS Athletics Boosters here!

New this yearAll amounts raised by the wrestlers and wrestling families benefit the wrestling team!

This hasn’t always been the case, so this is a great year to ensure your donation goes where you’d like it.  Just be sure to designate the wrestling team on your check or online donation.

Campaign 1 – Friends and Family Campaign

(Deadline: December 31st)

The Friends and Family campaign is exactly what it sounds like; we’d like to solicit voluntary donations from friends and family who might be interested in supporting the team.  This will be accomplished via email and executed almost entirely by the Boosters, but they need our help…

Our responsibility is to collect as many email addresses (preferably at least 10 per wrestler) of people who might be interested in donating – grandparents, aunts, uncles, teachers, pastors, neighbors, reclusive benefactors, etc.  Please submit email addresses by December 31st using the online form at https://northwoodhs.wufoo.com/forms/friends-and-family-team-donations-email-request/

The wrestlers are also creating a short video which will be included with the email solicitations to help the viewers better understand our needs.  We are hopeful that this exposure will generate stronger generosity and increased donations.

Campaign 2 – Athlete Donations  (Deadline:  January 19th)

We ask that each athlete donate a suggested amount needed by the team to pay for unfunded equipment, tournaments, uniforms (which we drastically need), and other athlete needs.  There are many donation options; it is not an all or nothing request.  You may donate the exact amount requested, more than is requested, less than is requested, or nothing at all.  Donations are entirely voluntary.

The suggested athlete donation for the wrestling team this year is $150 - $250.  We prefer that these donations are made via check (payable to NHS Boosters with “wrestling” in the memo) and given to Coach Nesbit no later than January 19th.  Another convenient way to donate to the team is to use the online resource at www.nhs-boosters.com.

Campaign 3 – Timberwolf 5K  (Deadline: January 23rd)

The Timberwolf 5K and Obstacle Course is a huge fundraiser for the athletics programs.  The attached flyer will provide you with all the details about the event.  To raise funds, we are asking that all student-athletes register online for the Timberwolf 5K, whether they decide to run or not, by January 23rd at https://northwoodhs.wufoo.com/forms/timberwolf-5k-run-walk-sat-feb-11-2017/.  The early pricing option for student-athletes is $25.00, but the price goes up the longer you wait to register.

It is also important to note that if we source a corporate sponsor and/or exhibitor, the money donated by that sponsor also goes directly to the wrestling team!  So, if anybody works for or knows of a company who may be interested in sponsoring the event, please get the attached forms and information in front of them.  They get advertising and marketing perks out of the deal.  One generous sponsor can make a huge difference in our overall budget deficit.

Finally, the wrestling team will be responsible for “goody bag” assembly and coordination prior to the February 11th event.  More information on that topic will come from our team coordinator, Lacretia Vredenburgh, in January.
