The Northwood Athletic Boosters is pleased to offer Four $500 scholarships annually:

Athlete of the Year – female
Athlete of the Year – male
Spirit of Tim O’Brien – female
Spirit of Tim O’Brien – male

Scholarship details and application links will be announced in spring PTSA newsletters. Please check your email for the latest scholarship information. The on-line scholarship application forms are open now and close on April TBD 2024.

Scholarship winners will be contacted by TBD.

The scholarships will be awarded at the Distinguished Timberwolf Night in May 2024.

Female and Male Athlete of the Year

Athlete of the Year recognizes those student-athletes who achieve athletic excellence, are leaders of their team and/or school, achieve academic excellence and may also be community volunteers/leaders.

Qualification Criteria:

Qualified applicants must be a current member of the NHS Athletics
Must have competed for Northwood High School athletics and participated in significant community/volunteer service.
The emphasis will be on athletic achievement, campus/team leadership, and academic achievement.

Closing Date:

Applications close after April TBD 2024.

Spirit of Tim O’Brien Commemorative Scholarship Application

The Spirit of Tim O’Brien Scholarship recognizes those student-athletes who live their lives both on and off the court and field of play with the same qualities that Coach O’Brien worked so hard to instill in the lives of young people. Coach O’Brien lived with a “broad shoulders” attitude, that no matter the weight of one’s circumstances, one should not ask for less burden, but for broader shoulders to carry the weight. In that way, recipients of this scholarship will have proven themselves able not just to overcome adversity, but to thrive in the same “light ‘em up” spirit that Coach O’Brien did.
